Who Is Arts Mon?

Arts Monongahela is a nonprofit agency that grew out of the Arts Initiative of the Vision 2000 Program of the Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce.

Under the auspices of Vision 2000, a committee of volunteers came together during the 1990s to coordinate and cultivate the arts in the area, with the understanding that this would further the overall development of the entire community.

Arts Monongahela was incorporated as a nonprofit entity governed by a board of directors in October of 1999 to serve this purpose on an ongoing basis.

All of the area's major arts groups, as well as several independent artists, government officials, business persons and other interested individuals in the community participated in the research and dialogue to help make the formation of Arts Monongahela possible.
