Arthurdale Heritage Muesum
Founded in 1934, Arthurdale was created to give displaced coal miners a chance for a new life. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt was the empathetic force behind the project. She visited Arthurdale many times; dining with homesteaders, dancing the Virginia Reel, and speaking at graduations. The museum showcases the history of the town, and points you in the direction of other historical sites throughout the town. The museum is open year round on weekdays from 10:00 - 2:00 and Saturdays 12:00 - 5:00 and Sundays 2:00 - 5:00 May - October. Admission is $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for museum members and students. Morgantown Municipal Band
The Morgantown Municipal Band has presented a free Fourth of July Concert in the Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront Park since 1990. The program has also been performed at Prickett's Fort State Park. This museum was built especially for exhibiting a collection of glasses from the Morgantown, Seneca, Gentile glass company, and other glass factories around Morgantown. Over 2,000 pieces manufactured from late 1892-1980 are shown. The Museum is owned and operated by a private collector, Mr. Kurt Ly. After 10 years of collecting glasses, he decided to have his own museum to share his passion with others.
